Dutasteride (0.5 Mg) + Silodosin (8 Mg)

Rapilif-D 8 New Capsule is used to manage symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate. It helps relieve lower urinary tract symptoms such as dribbling and urinary retention. While it does not cure BPH, it provides effective symptomatic relief. Inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions, allergies, or other medications you're taking. Follow your doctor’s dosage recommendations and seek medical advice if you experience persistent or worsening side effects.

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule are used in the management of:

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: It provides symptomatic relief in such patients by relieving lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty in urination, dribbling of urine, weak stream of urine, and incomplete emptying of the bladder.

Take the Rapilif-D 8 New capsule with a glass of water.
Swallow the capsule as a whole, do not crush or chew it.
This medication should be taken preferably with meals.
Rapilif-D 8 New capsule is recommended to be taken at a fixed daily time.

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule should be taken orally.

The side effects of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule include:

Retrograde Ejaculation (semen goes back into the bladder at the time of orgasm leading to very little or no ejaculated semen)
Diarrhoea
Dizziness
Orthostatic Hypotension/Postural Hypotension (Low blood pressure associated with posture which occurs when the patient stands after sitting or lying for a while)
Stuffy nose or runny nose
Headache
Nasopharyngitis (Inflammation of the Nose and Pharynx)

Managing the Side Effects:

Some side effects are temporary and harmless, and get resolved by discontinuing the tablet. These may not require medical attention. To combat gastrointestinal side effects, take this tablet with food. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects due to this tablet, consult your doctor.

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule contains the following components:

Silodosin (8 mg): It is an alpha adrenergic antagonist that works by blocking the alpha 1A type of adrenoceptors located in the prostate gland, urethra and urinary bladder. It leads to the relaxation of smooth muscles in these locations. thus, easing urinary flow.
Dutasteride (0.5 mg): It is 5 alpha reductase inhibitor that works by inhibition of both type 1 and 2 of 5-alpha reductase. It is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to 5-alpha dihydrotestosterone. It is responsible for the initial development and subsequent enlargement of the prostate gland.

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol consumption while on Rapilif-D 8 New capsule as it can aggravate the orthostatic hypotension caused by this medicine.

Liver

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule should not be given to patients with severe liver disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate liver disease after consultation with a doctor.

Kidney

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule should not be given to patients with severe kidney disease or impairment. Dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate kidney disease after consultation with a doctor.

Using Machines & Driving

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule can cause postural hypotension and dizziness which can impair driving and machine operating capability. Refrain from such activities while you are taking this medication.

Allergy

If you are allergic to Rapilif-D 8 New capsule or any of its constituents then do not take it.

Children

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule are not indicated for use in paediatric patients (<18 years of age).

Older Patients

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule is to be used with caution in elderly patients with liver or kidney disease as they usually need dose adjustment after consultation from a doctor.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule interact with the following medicines:

Antifungals like itraconazole and ketoconazole should not be taken with this medicine as it may increase the effect of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule.
Blood pressure-lowering medicines like verapamil, and diltiazem can aggravate Orthostatic Hypotension caused by Rapilif-D 8 New capsule.
Antivirals like ritonavir decrease the metabolism of this medicine and increase its effect and side effects.
Immune-suppressing drugs like cyclosporine should not be given with Rapilif-D 8 New capsule.
Antibiotics like clarithromycin and erythromycin- should not be used with Rapilif D 8 New capsule Rapilif-D 8 New capsule.
Erectile dysfunction medicines like tadalafil and sildenafil (PDE-5 inhibitors) increase the side effects like orthostatic hypotension, dizziness.

Drug-Food Interactions

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule interacts with high-fat or moderate-calorie meals as its consumption can reduce the plasma concentration of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule and thus reduce its effect.

Rapilif-D 8 New capsule interact with the following diseases:

Severe kidney diseases- can be aggravated
Severe liver diseases- can be worsened

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule by accident, inform your doctor immediately and follow his advice. The overdose symptoms of Rapilif-D 8 New capsule include dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness and blurred vision. Be vigilant and do not ignore these symptoms.

Missed Dose
