CompositionHCQS-200 Tablet is used to manage rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other autoimmune conditions, and to prevent and treat certain types of malaria. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing hydroxychloroquine, and belongs to the classes of medicines called antimalarials and disease-modifying antirheumatic medicines.
This medicine works by calming an overactive immune system, which reduces joint pain, swelling and skin symptoms in autoimmune conditions. In malaria, it acts against the parasite that infects red blood cells. It may take several weeks to show its full benefit in autoimmune conditions.
Take the tablet with food or milk, as prescribed, to reduce stomach upset. Stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and blurred vision are common effects, and any change in vision should be reported to your doctor promptly.
Regular eye check-ups are advised during long-term treatment. Tell your doctor about any eye problems, psoriasis, liver or kidney problems, other medicines you take, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting. Do not stop taking it unless your doctor advises you to do so.
