Folitrax tablet side effects include:

• Nausea and vomiting: These symptoms do not need medical attention. But, if it persists, consult your doctor.
• Drowsiness, dizziness: If you feel drowsy or dizzy after taking the pill, take some rest. 
• Temporary hair loss - Users might have temporary hair loss. Hair loss stops on its own after the treatment.
• Signs of anaemia: This includes pale skin or unusual tiredness. 
• Dark urine, stomach pain, and yellowing: These are signs of liver problems. Consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. 
• Fever: Since Folitrax works by suppressing the immune system, there are high chances of catching a fever.

Managing the side effects 

• Nausea and vomiting: Consume ginger tea to reduce the nauseous sensation.
• Drowsiness or dizziness: If you experience these symptoms, take some rest. You can change the timings of the medication after consulting with your doctor for a better experience.
• Temporary hair loss: Consume healthy foods rich in vitamins during medication. 
• Signs of anaemia: Consume a diet rich in iron to keep yourself fit.
• Fever: Take adequate rest. You can take ginger tea or tulsi tea to relieve fever.
• Dark urine: Increase your fluid intake in case of dark urine. Cranberry juice is known to flush out the toxins from the body. Thus, drinking cranberry juice can also be of use. 

Precautions

Pregnancy 

Folitrax 7.5 mg tablet is unsafe for a pregnant woman. Do not consume this medication if you are pregnant or planning for a pregnancy. The tablet is proven to have harmful effects on the unborn child.

Breastfeeding 

Breastfeeding should not be done while on the Folitrax drug. The medication can pass through breast milk. This can harm the baby. Breastfeeding should only be done one week after stopping the treatment. Don’t consume this tablet without consulting your doctor.

Alcohol 

It is unsafe to consume this medication along with alcohol. 

Liver 

Care has to be given to patients with persistent liver issues. Inform the doctor before getting the dosage.

Kidney 

Individuals with kidney problems have to consult a doctor before starting medications. Dosage adjustments will be made by your doctor. 

Using machines and driving 

It is advised not to drive or run heavy machines. Folitrax is known to cause drowsiness or dizziness. 

Allergy 

Folitrax might have allergens. Therefore, inform your doctor if you have any allergies. 

Use in children 

Folitrax is usually not recommended for children. But, if required, it can be given at lower dosages upon the recommendation of doctors.

Use in older patients 

Folitrax is not recommended for older patients. However, it can be administered in lower doses only when prescribed by the doctor.

These tablets can be used alone or in combination with other medications. Since Folitrax can interact with other medications, you should inform your physician if you are under any treatment.

Folitrax interacts with drugs, including:

• Pain killers (celecoxib, acetaminophen, hydrocodone)
• Anti-depressant (duloxetine)
• Immunosuppressants (etanercept)
• Anti-rheumatoid (adalimumab)
• Antacid (esomeprazole)
• Anti-malarial (hydroxychloroquine)

Drug-food interaction 

There are no foods to avoid during treatments with Folitrax. However, since this medication is known to suppress the immune system, avoiding unpasteurised milk and milk products is advised.

Folitrax can interact with diseases, including:

• Immunodeficiency conditions 
• Low white blood cell count
• Bone marrow problems
• Low platelet count
• Liver diseases 
• Kidney diseases
