CompositionFolitrax 7.5 Tablet is used to treat certain cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma, breast, lung, bone and head-and-neck cancers, and to manage autoimmune conditions when other treatments are not enough. It is a single-ingredient antimetabolite containing methotrexate.
It slows abnormal cell growth and regulates an overactive immune system, and is used in severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and some cases of Crohn's disease. For autoimmune diseases it is usually taken once a week. Take it exactly in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and never take extra doses.
Avoid alcohol, as it increases the risk of liver damage. Protect yourself from infections and keep to all blood test appointments.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or lung problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine must not be taken during pregnancy. Report mouth sores, unusual bruising or bleeding, breathlessness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or any sign of infection promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
