CompositionAmps Sd Tablet 10 is used to manage the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlarged prostate gland, in men. It is a combination medicine containing silodosin 8mg and dutasteride 0.5mg, and belongs to the classes of medicines called alpha-blockers (silodosin) and 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (dutasteride).
This medicine works in two ways. Silodosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and the neck of the bladder, which improves urine flow and eases symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, a weak flow and the frequent need to pass urine. Dutasteride blocks the hormone that makes the prostate grow, which gradually shrinks it, so it may take some time before you notice the full benefit. Swallow it whole with water, with or after the same meal each day, as prescribed by your doctor. It is for men only and is not for use in women or children.
Women who are or may be pregnant should not take this medicine. Avoid driving until you know whether it makes you dizzy, and rise slowly from sitting or lying down.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any liver, kidney or heart problems, low blood pressure or prostate cancer, and tell your eye surgeon if you are planning cataract or glaucoma surgery. Tell your doctor about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Contact your doctor if you have fainting, severe dizziness or persistent side effects. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
