CompositionAtchol-ASP Capsule is used to lower cholesterol and to help prevent heart attacks and strokes in people at high cardiovascular risk. It combines atorvastatin, a statin, with aspirin, an antiplatelet medicine, and is used for long-term protection in those with raised cholesterol or multiple heart risk factors.
Atorvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver needed to make cholesterol, lowering harmful LDL cholesterol, while aspirin reduces the tendency of platelets to clump together and form clots, and together the two medicines help protect the heart and blood vessels.
Take this capsule as prescribed, with or without food, at the same time each day as your doctor prescribes, and continue even if your cholesterol improves, since ongoing treatment is usually needed for lasting benefit.
Tell your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding problems, as the aspirin component increases bleeding risk. Report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, which can rarely signal a serious muscle problem needing urgent review, and this medicine is not suitable during pregnancy.
