Omnigel is a topical analgesic used for the relief of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. It is indicated for muscle pain, joint soreness, sprains, strains, minor sports injuries, and inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis of peripheral joints. Its multi-ingredient formula - combining the NSAID Diclofenac Diethylamine with the counterirritants Methyl Salicylate and Menthol, and the anti-inflammatory carrier Linseed Oil - delivers both rapid surface-level relief and deeper anti-inflammatory action.

Diclofenac Diethylamine, the primary active ingredient in Omnigel, works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins - the key mediators of pain, swelling and fever at the site of injury. Methyl Salicylate acts as a counterirritant, stimulating cutaneous receptors to create a warm sensation that distracts from deeper pain and promotes localised vasodilation. Menthol activates TRPM8 cold-receptor pathways, producing an immediate cooling effect that temporarily numbs the area. Linseed Oil, rich in alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid), acts as a penetration enhancer and contributes mild anti-inflammatory properties. Together, these ingredients provide layered pain relief - rapid surface comfort followed by sustained reduction of inflammation in underlying tissues.

Omnigel is generally applied 3 - 4 times daily to the affected area, but your doctor or pharmacist may adjust frequency based on the severity of your condition. Avoid applying it over large body surface areas or under occlusive dressings unless specifically instructed, as this may increase systemic absorption of Diclofenac. Patients with a known hypersensitivity to NSAIDs, aspirin, or any ingredient in this gel should not use Omnigel. If you experience a skin rash, severe irritation, or worsening pain after application, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional promptly. Individuals with asthma, peptic ulcer, or kidney or liver impairment should seek medical advice before use, even for a topical formulation.

• Diclofenac Diethylamine: Diclofenac Diethylamine (1.16%) is a topically active NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug). It inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, thereby decreasing localised pain, swelling, and inflammation. The diethylamine salt form improves skin penetration compared to other diclofenac salts, enabling effective delivery to inflamed musculoskeletal tissue.
   
• Linseed Oil: Linseed Oil (Flaxseed Oil, 3%) is a plant-derived carrier ingredient rich in alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid. In topical formulations, it functions as a penetration enhancer that improves dermal absorption of the active ingredients. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties that complement the action of Diclofenac.
   
• Menthol: Menthol (5%) is a naturally derived cyclic terpene alcohol that produces its characteristic cooling sensation by activating TRPM8 thermoreceptors in the skin - without actually lowering tissue temperature. This neurological effect provides rapid, temporary relief from superficial pain and discomfort. Menthol also acts as a mild local anaesthetic and penetration enhancer.
   
• Methyl Salicylate: Methyl Salicylate (10%) is a salicylate-class counterirritant commonly referred to as wintergreen oil. It stimulates cutaneous receptors to produce a mild warming sensation, overriding the perception of deeper pain through the gate control theory of pain modulation. It also promotes local vasodilation, which may help reduce muscle stiffness and accelerate tissue repair.

• Relieves Muscular Pain: Diclofenac Diethylamine may block pain-causing enzymes and reduce muscle discomfort and stiffness. It helps improve movement and flexibility in the affected areas by inhibiting inflammatory COX enzymes at the site of discomfort.

• Reduces Swelling and Inflammation: The combined action of ingredients helps decrease swelling and promotes quicker healing. It may alleviate tenderness in affected muscles and joints and promote relief with visible improvement often felt within 30–60 minutes of application.
   
• Provides a Cooling Effect: Menthol offers a cooling sensation, which may assist in numbing the affected area and providing instant relief from pain. It helps soothe inflammation and reduce discomfort caused by muscle overuse through Menthol's TRPM8 receptor activation for immediate topical comfort.

• Clean and dry the affected area before applying.
• Squeeze approximately 2-4 cm of gel and apply directly to the skin.
• Massage gently in circular motions until the gel is fully absorbed.
• Wash your hands after application.
• Apply 2–3 times daily unless otherwise directed by a doctor.
• Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, eyes, or mucous membranes.
