Tamflo D Capsule 10 is a medicine used to manage the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) in adult men. It is a combination medicine containing dutasteride, which shrinks the prostate, and tamsulosin, which relaxes the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, and belongs to a class of medicines called alpha blocker and 5-alpha reductase inhibitor combinations.
This medicine works by relaxing the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck to ease urination, while the dutasteride gradually shrinks the prostate gland over time. This improves urine flow and relieves difficulty starting to urinate and the frequent need to urinate. Take it as directed by your doctor and continue for the full duration prescribed, as the full benefit may take several months to appear.
Reducing fluids in the evening, limiting caffeine and alcohol, and not delaying trips to the toilet can help alongside this treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver problems or take other medicines. It can lower blood pressure, so rise slowly to avoid dizziness. It is for use in men only, and women who are or may become pregnant should not handle the capsules.
