CompositionAldactone 25 Tablet is used to treat fluid retention (oedema) caused by heart failure, liver cirrhosis or kidney disease, and to help manage high blood pressure while keeping the body's potassium balanced. It is also used in conditions linked with too much of the hormone aldosterone.
It contains spironolactone, a potassium-sparing diuretic. It works by removing excess water and salt while helping to reduce the potassium loss that some other diuretics cause.
Take it by mouth as prescribed. Avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless your doctor advises them, as this medicine can raise potassium.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems, salt imbalance or other medicines before starting. Your doctor may check your potassium and kidney function with blood tests.
