Arpimune ME 100 Capsule 5 is used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs such as the kidney, liver or heart, and to manage certain autoimmune conditions. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing cyclosporine, and belongs to the class of immunosuppressant medicines.
This medicine works by inhibiting an enzyme called calcineurin, which is crucial for activating T-lymphocytes, the immune cells responsible for organ rejection. By blocking calcineurin, this medicine dampens the immune response, making the body less likely to reject a transplanted organ, and also helps control inflammation in autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. Take this capsule with or without food, but consistently at the same time each day, in the dose determined by your doctor.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice affect liver enzymes and can unpredictably increase the levels of this medicine in your blood; these should be avoided while taking this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any high blood pressure or kidney disease, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. Use with caution during pregnancy. If you experience dizziness or fatigue, avoid activities such as driving until you feel well. Report any skin rash, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or swelling of facial parts to your doctor immediately. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
