Dutasteride (0.5 Mg) + Tamsulosin (0.4 Mg)

Veltam Plus Tablet is used to manage symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition where the prostate gland enlarges. It helps alleviate symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination, and nocturia. The combination of tamsulosin and dutasteride works together to relax prostate muscles and reduce prostate size, improving urinary flow and reducing BPH symptoms over time.

In addition to managing BPH, this medicine can also help alleviate associated lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, a weak urine stream, frequent or urgent need to urinate, and incomplete bladder emptying among others. It's important to note that this medicine is not indicated for the prevention of prostate cancer.

Veltam Plus Tablet is used to manage benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination, nocturia, incomplete bladder emptying, and dribbling at the end of urination.

Directions for Use of Veltam Plus Tablet 15

These are the directions for use to take this tablet:

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
Do not chew, crush, split or open the tablet.
Consult your doctor for personalised advice on taking this medication.

Veltam Plus Tablet is taken orally.

The use of Veltam Plus Tablet might lead to the following side effects:

Impotence
Decreased libido
Ejaculation disorders, mainly decreased semen volume
Dizziness

Managing the Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Veltam Plus Tablet. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Here are some suggestions for managing two common side effects:

Impotence: If this medicine causes impotence, consider taking it at bedtime.
Dizziness: Try taking the medicine with meals to lessen this effect.

Veltam Plus Tablet has two active ingredients:

Tamsulosin (0.4 mg): Tamsulosin targets specific receptors in the prostate and bladder that control muscle contractions. By blocking these receptors, it helps relax the muscles, making it easier for urine to flow.
Dutasteride (0.5 mg): Dutasteride stops the production of a hormone called DHT, which is linked to prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels, dutasteride helps shrink an enlarged prostate, easing pressure on the urethra and improving urinary symptoms over time.

Pregnancy

Veltam Plus Tablet is intended only for adult men. and is contraindicated during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Veltam Plus Tablet is intended only for adult men. and is contraindicated for breastfeeding women.

Alcohol

Caution is advised and it is best to consult your doctor on the use of this medicine if you regularly consume alcohol.

Liver

Caution is advised while taking Veltam Plus Tablet in case of mild to moderate liver impairment. It is not recommended for severe liver diseases. If you have liver problems, discuss them with your doctor before starting this medicine.

Kidney

Caution is advised before using Veltam Plus Tablet if you have a history of any kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Using Machines & Driving

As this tablet may cause dizziness, you should be cautious while driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.

Allergy

If you are allergic to dutasteride, tamsulosin, other 5α-reductase inhibitors, or any component of the tablet, avoid using this tablet. Consult your doctor for alternatives.

Children

Older Patients

Drug-Drug Interactions

Strong inhibitors of CYP3A4: Medicines like ketoconazole and ritonavir may increase the effects of dutasteride in Veltam Plus Tablet, leading to possible side effects.
Moderate inhibitors of CYP3A4 and CYP2D6: Caution is necessary when taking medicines such as erythromycin and fluoxetine concurrently with Veltam Plus Tablet as these can increase the effects of tamsulosin.
Alpha-blockers: Medicines like prazosin used along with Veltam Plus Tablet may lower your blood pressure too much.
Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors: When combined with medicines like sildenafil, Veltam Plus Tablet could further decrease your blood pressure.

Veltam Plus Tablet interacts with the following diseases:

Liver disease: Those with mild to moderate liver disease should use this medicine with caution and only after consulting with a doctor.

Orthostatic hypotension: Individuals who have a history of this condition, where blood pressure falls upon standing up, should exercise caution when taking Veltam Plus Tablet.

Over Dose
