CompositionTorplat 90 Tablet is used to help prevent blood clots in people who have had a heart attack or severe chest pain (unstable angina), and after a stent procedure. It helps lower the risk of further heart attacks and strokes.
It contains ticagrelor and belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelets. It works by stopping platelets in the blood from clumping together, which keeps blood flowing smoothly and reduces the risk of a clot forming in the blood vessels. It is usually taken daily, with or without food. Do not stop it without medical advice, as sudden discontinuation increases the risk of a serious heart event.
Some general measures help alongside this medicine. These include taking care to avoid cuts and injuries and telling any healthcare professional that you take an antiplatelet medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, asthma or breathing problems, liver problems, or other medicines you take, and tell your doctor or dentist that you take it before any surgery or dental work. Report any unusual or prolonged bleeding straight away, and tell your doctor if you develop unexpected breathlessness.
