Brigrel Tablet is used to prevent harmful blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. It belongs to a class of medicines known as antiplatelet medicines (platelet aggregation inhibitors). It contains ticagrelor.
It is used in managing acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or after a prior heart attack. This medicine plays an important role in preventing complications in people with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are at high risk of a heart attack or stroke, such as those with type 2 diabetes. It is also used in certain types of ischaemic stroke and transient ischaemic attack (TIA or mini-stroke), and in people with a coronary stent. Take it as prescribed, with or without food.
Staying physically active as advised, eating a heart-healthy diet low in saturated fat, and avoiding smoking support better cardiovascular health alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, stomach ulcers, or other medicines you take, especially other blood thinners. Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, or dark stools right away. Do not stop this medicine without your doctor's advice, particularly if you have a coronary stent.
