CompositionMetrogyl 200 Tablet is used to treat infections caused by parasites and "anaerobic" bacteria (germs that grow in the absence of oxygen). It is a standard treatment for amoebic dysentery, dental abscesses, and certain genital infections. It is also used before surgery to prevent post-operative infections in the gut.
This treatment contains Metronidazole. It works by entering the DNA of the harmful microorganisms and damaging their DNA, which prevents them from multiplying and leads to their death. It is highly targeted toward germs that live in the gut, mouth, and reproductive tract.
This tablet should be taken after food. Warning: You must strictly avoid alcohol while taking this medicine and for 48 hours after your last dose; the combination can cause severe nausea, headache, and flushing. It may cause a temporary metallic taste in your mouth. Finish the entire course even if you feel better.
