Metrogyl 200 Tablet is used to treat infections caused by certain parasites and bacteria that grow without oxygen (anaerobic bacteria). It is a single-ingredient medicine containing metronidazole, which belongs to a class of medicines called nitroimidazole antimicrobials.

This medicine is used to treat amoebic dysentery and amoebic liver abscess, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis and dental infections, and to help prevent infection after some operations. Take the tablet with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if symptoms improve quickly.

Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose, as it can cause flushing, severe nausea and vomiting. Drinking clean, safe water and washing your hands well can help prevent gut infections from returning.
