Rantac 300 Tablet is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and excessive acid conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It provides relief from ""sour stomach,"" chest burning, and the pain associated with acid-induced irritation of the food pipe.
This medication contains Ranitidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the histamine receptors in the stomach lining that trigger acid production. By lowering the total volume and acidity of stomach juices, it allows the damaged lining of the stomach or esophagus to heal naturally over time.
Take this tablet as prescribed, usually once or twice daily. While it can be taken with or without food, taking it 30–60 minutes before a meal that triggers heartburn is often most effective. Do not crush or chew the tablet; swallow it whole. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be lowered. Avoid smoking, as it interferes with the healing of ulcers.
