CompositionNicardia XL 60 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure and to prevent chest pain (angina) in adults, including both chronic stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzzmetal's) angina.
It contains nifedipine 60mg in an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole as prescribed; do not crush, chew, or break it, as this disrupts the extended-release mechanism. Take it at the same time each day. Headache and ankle swelling are common in the first few weeks and usually settle with continued use.
A low-salt diet, staying active within your limits, stopping smoking, limiting alcohol, and maintaining a healthy weight all support cardiovascular management alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any heart failure, significant liver disease, or other cardiovascular medicines. Report any significant worsening of chest pain when starting treatment. Avoid grapefruit juice, which can raise nifedipine levels. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
