Axcer 90 Tablet is used in adults to prevent heart attacks, strokes and death from heart disease in people who have had acute coronary syndrome, such as a heart attack or unstable angina, including those who have had a stent placed. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ticagrelor, and belongs to a class of medicines called antiplatelets.
This medicine works by stopping platelets in the blood from clumping together to form clots in the arteries. Take it twice a day at about the same times, with or without food, usually together with low-dose aspirin as directed by your doctor.
Higher doses of aspirin reduce how well it works, so take only the aspirin dose your doctor prescribes. Do not stop taking it without speaking to your cardiologist, as stopping early, especially after a stent, can sharply raise the risk of a heart attack or clot. Tell any doctor or dentist treating you that you take it.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder, a stomach ulcer, gout, asthma or COPD, a slow heartbeat or planned surgery. Do not take it if you are bleeding, have had bleeding in the brain or have severe liver disease. Seek urgent help for black stools, vomiting blood, blood in the urine, or a sudden severe headache, weakness or confusion.
