Famocid 40 Tablet is a medicine used to reduce excess stomach acid and treat conditions such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and other acid-related digestive disorders.
It contains famotidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. Take it as prescribed, with or without food, but at the same time each day. Continue taking it regularly even if you feel better, as symptoms often return if the medicine is stopped. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.
Lifestyle changes can help reduce stomach acid-related symptoms. These include avoiding spicy and fatty foods, not eating late at night, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding alcohol and caffeine, and sleeping with your head elevated on a pillow.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, diabetes, or are taking other medicines. Inform your doctor if you develop unusual bruising or bleeding, as this could indicate a rare side effect. This medicine is generally safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding, but inform your doctor before use.
