Lonitab 2.5 Tablet is used to manage severe or treatment-resistant high blood pressure in adults when other medicines have not been enough. Because it can cause the body to retain salt and water and increase the heart rate, it is almost always prescribed alongside a diuretic and a beta-blocker.
It contains minoxidil, a direct-acting vasodilator. Take it as prescribed, at the same time each day. It is usually started alongside other medicines, so do not stop any of them without your doctor's guidance.
Salt restriction and regular monitoring of your blood pressure, heart rate, and weight are important parts of treatment. Tell your doctor promptly about rapid weight gain, increased ankle swelling, or breathlessness, as these can signal fluid retention.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any heart, kidney, or liver problems, and about all other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you have or develop symptoms that may suggest pericardial effusion, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or swelling. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
