CompositionVeltam 0.4 mg Tablet MR is a modified-release alpha-blocker medicine used to treat lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men. It helps ease symptoms such as difficulty passing urine, weak urine stream, painful urination, frequent urgency, and waking up multiple times at night to urinate.
It contains tamsulosin hydrochloride, an alpha-1 adrenoceptor antagonist that selectively relaxes the smooth muscle in the prostate gland and bladder neck. Take one tablet daily after the same meal (such as breakfast or dinner) with a glass of water as prescribed. Swallow the modified-release tablet whole without crushing, chewing, or opening it to ensure smooth, continuous release of the active ingredient.
Lifestyle modifications can significantly support urinary comfort in men with an enlarged prostate. Limit fluid intake close to bedtime, reduce consumption of caffeine and alcohol, avoid holding urine for long periods, double-void when urinating, and maintain regular physical exercise.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or are scheduled for cataract or glaucoma eye surgery. Because this medicine can cause dizziness or lightheadedness, stand up slowly from sitting or lying positions. Report persistent dizziness, fainting, or ejaculation changes to your healthcare provider.
