Tacroz Ointment is used to manage moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children aged 2 years and older who have not responded adequately to conventional treatments.
It contains tacrolimus, a topical calcineurin inhibitor that calms an overactive immune response in the skin. Apply a thin layer only to the affected areas of clean, dry skin, exactly as directed by your dermatologist. Continue using it for as long as advised, even as your symptoms start to settle.
Using a fragrance-free moisturiser regularly on unaffected skin can help maintain the skin barrier alongside this ointment. Avoiding harsh soaps and very hot water during bathing may also reduce skin irritation.
Before using this ointment, tell your doctor if you have any skin infections, as it should not be applied over infected skin. Do not cover the treated area with occlusive bandages unless specifically instructed. Protect treated skin from strong sunlight and avoid sunbeds, as this medicine can increase skin sensitivity to UV light. Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after up to two weeks or if they worsen.
