CompositionCandid-B Cream is used to treat fungal skin infections that are red, itchy and inflamed, such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch and candida infections of the skin, when a doctor decides a short course of a mild steroid is also needed. It is a combination medicine containing clotrimazole, which belongs to a class of medicines called azole antifungals, and beclometasone, which belongs to a class called corticosteroids.
This medicine works by killing the fungus with clotrimazole, while beclometasone reduces redness, itching and swelling. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin and a small area around it, as directed by your doctor, usually for a short time only, and wash your hands afterwards.
Keeping the area clean and dry, wearing loose cotton clothing and not sharing towels can help prevent the infection spreading or returning. Do not cover the area with tight or airtight dressings.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or plan to use it on a child or on the face. Do not use it for longer than advised, as the steroid can thin the skin and, with long use, allow ringworm to spread or return. Tell your doctor if the infection does not improve or keeps coming back.
