Telma 40 Tablet is a medicine used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. It is also used to protect kidney function in adults at high risk of heart or kidney complications.
It contains telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker. It can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time every day as prescribed. Continue taking it regularly even if you feel completely fine, as high blood pressure rarely shows outward symptoms. Stopping suddenly may cause your blood pressure to rise again.
Adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle is essential while taking this medicine. This includes following a low-salt diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding smoking and alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, dehydration, or low blood pressure. It is strictly not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your doctor may check your kidney function and blood potassium levels periodically.
