CompositionAtchol 40 Tablet is used to lower high cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular events. It is a single-ingredient statin containing atorvastatin.
It is also used in people with familial hypercholesterolaemia (inherited high cholesterol). It lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides and raises HDL (good) cholesterol. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and continue it even when you feel well, as high cholesterol usually has no symptoms.
Follow a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol by cutting down on fried food, ghee, butter and red meat, stay physically active and maintain a healthy weight.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, muscle disorders or heavy alcohol use, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, or dark urine. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
