Avas 40 Tablet is used to lower high cholesterol and triglycerides in adults. It is a single-ingredient statin containing atorvastatin.
It is also used in people with inherited high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolaemia) to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, alongside a diet low in saturated fat, usually as a long-term treatment. Take it at any time of day, with or without food, in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and keep taking it even when you feel well.
Eat less saturated fat by cutting down on fried food, ghee and butter, stay physically active, keep to a healthy weight and quit smoking.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Ask your doctor about use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, or dark urine. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
