Atorva 40 Tablet is used to lower high cholesterol and triglycerides in adults, including those with familial hypercholesterolaemia, to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. It is prescribed alongside a diet low in saturated fat and is usually taken as a long-term treatment.
It contains atorvastatin, a statin that reduces the cholesterol produced by the liver. Take the tablet as prescribed, at any time of day, with or without food, and continue taking it even when you feel well.
A diet low in saturated fat, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and quitting smoking help support better cholesterol levels alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any liver or kidney problems before starting, and about any other medicines you take. Report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, or dark coloured urine, to your doctor promptly.
