Atorva 40 Tablet 10

Atorva 40 Tablet is used in adults to lower high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, including in people with familial hypercholesterolaemia, and to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Uses of Atorva 40 Tablet are:

• Cholesterol Control: Lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides, and raises HDL (good) cholesterol.
• Familial Hypercholesterolaemia: Used in patients with inherited high cholesterol.
• Heart Protection: Helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

• Take Atorva 40 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew it.
• Keep taking it even when you feel well. High cholesterol usually has no symptoms, and stopping on your own lets it rise again.
• Tell your doctor promptly if you get unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness

Atorva 40 Tablet is taken by mouth. Swallow it whole with water.

Atorva 40 Tablet contains Atorvastatin 40 mg, a statin (a cholesterol-lowering medicine). It works in a few ways:

• It blocks an enzyme the liver uses to make cholesterol, so the liver produces less cholesterol.
• It increases the liver's removal of bad cholesterol (LDL) from the blood and causes a small increase in good cholesterol (HDL) levels.
• It also lowers blood fats (triglycerides), which together lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke.

• Store Atorva 40 Tablet below 30°C, in a dry place away from light and moisture.
• Keep it out of the reach of children.
• Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
• Return any unused or expired medicine to your pharmacist for safe disposal.

• Eat a diet low in saturated and trans fats and refined carbohydrates, and high in fibre, whole grains, lean protein and oily fish such as salmon.
• Be active most days. Regular moderate exercise helps your cholesterol and heart.
• Limit alcohol and stop smoking, which both help your heart and cholesterol.

• Tell your doctor about any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness while taking Atorva 40 Tablet.
• Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or thyroid problems, or drink alcohol regularly, before starting it.
• Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, including the contraceptive pill.
• Attend your follow-up appointments and keep up with your regular cholesterol blood tests.
