CompositionAscoril LS Junior Syrup is used to relieve a wet cough with thick mucus in children, especially when the airways are narrowed, as in bronchitis and asthma. It is a combination respiratory medicine containing levosalbutamol (a bronchodilator), ambroxol (a mucolytic) and guaifenesin (an expectorant).
This medicine helps loosen and thin phlegm so it is easier to cough up, and relaxes the airways to ease wheezing and chest tightness. Shake the bottle well and give the dose prescribed by the doctor using the measuring device provided, based on your child's age and weight.
Giving your child plenty of warm fluids through the day helps keep mucus thin. Keeping them away from smoke and dust can also reduce airway irritation.
Before giving this medicine, tell the doctor if your child has heart problems, a fast heartbeat, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, epilepsy, or liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines your child takes. Contact the doctor if your child has a fast or pounding heartbeat, marked shaking, worsening breathing, or a cough lasting more than a week or coming with fever. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
