CompositionMsn Apiban 5 Tablet 10 is used to lower the risk of stroke and blood clots in people with an irregular heartbeat (non-valvular atrial fibrillation). It is a single-ingredient medicine containing apixaban, and belongs to a class of medicines called anticoagulants (blood thinners).
This medicine works by blocking a clotting factor in the blood, which reduces the formation of harmful clots. Take it as prescribed, usually twice daily with or without food, and use the dose and duration your doctor prescribes.
Taking it at the same time each day helps keep a steady level in your body. Avoid activities with a high risk of injury, and tell all your healthcare providers that you are taking a blood thinner.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder, have had recent surgery, or take other medicines, especially other anticoagulants. Report any signs of bleeding such as unusual bruising, nosebleeds or blood in your urine. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
