Upadoz 15 Tablet is used to manage moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults.

Uses of Upadoz 15 Tablet are:

• Moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis: This medicine helps reduce inflammation in the colon and rectum in adults who have not responded adequately to or cannot tolerate TNF blockers (a type of biologic medicine that suppresses the immune system).

• Maintenance of ulcerative colitis remission: This medicine helps maintain remission and control symptoms in adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis who have responded to treatment.

Follow these instructions while taking Upadoz 15 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• You may take this medicine with or without food.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting the tablet.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how long to continue this medicine.

Upadoz 15 Tablet is taken orally.

Upadoz 15 Tablet contains upadacitinib (15 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Preferentially inhibits JAK1: Upadacitinib preferentially inhibits JAK1 and reduces signalling through JAK-dependent pathways involved in inflammation.

• Prevents STAT activation: By inhibiting JAK enzymes, this medicine prevents the phosphorylation (chemical modification) and activation of STAT proteins, which regulate gene expression and control immune cell activity.

• Reduces inflammatory cytokine signalling: This action decreases signalling from several cytokines implicated in inflammatory diseases, thereby reducing the body's abnormal inflammatory response.

• Promotes clinical and endoscopic improvement: The resulting reduction in inflammatory activity can improve symptoms of ulcerative colitis and, in clinical studies, has been shown to promote healing of the intestinal lining as seen during endoscopy (internal examination using a camera).

• Store Upadoz 15 Tablet below 30°C in a cool, dry place.

• Keep the medicine in its original container to protect it from moisture.

• Store away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
