Apigat 5 Tablet 30

Apigat 5 Tablet is used in adults to prevent and treat harmful blood clots, including those linked to atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism, without the need for routine blood monitoring.

Uses of Apigat 5 Tablet are:

• Stroke Prevention: Reduces the risk of stroke and blood clots travelling through the body in adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
• DVT and PE Treatment: Treats deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and helps prevent their recurrence.
• Post-surgical Prophylaxis: Prevents blood clots following major hip or knee replacement surgery.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• You can consume this medicine with or without food as per your preference.

• If you have difficulty swallowing the tablet whole, it can be crushed and mixed with water, apple juice, or applesauce before taking.

• Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding when and how to take this medicine. Don't change your dosage or stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Apigat 5 Tablet is taken orally.

Apigat 5 Tablet contains Apixaban (5 mg), which acts on your body through the following mechanisms:

• Selective Inhibition of Factor Xa: Apixaban works by specifically blocking a component in your blood called Factor Xa. This component plays a crucial role in the process of blood clotting.
• Decrease in Thrombin Generation and Thrombus Development: By inhibiting Factor Xa, Apixaban effectively reduces the formation of thrombin, a protein that plays a key role in blood clotting. This prevents thrombus, or blood clots, from developing in your legs (DVT), lungs (PE), or other parts of your body.

• Keep your Apigat 5 Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• Shield it from excessive heat and direct sunlight.

• Always store in a dry place, avoiding damp areas like bathrooms or near sinks.

• For safety, keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Remember to use the tablets before the expiry date mentioned on the pack.

• If you're taking Apigat 5 Tablet due to an irregular heartbeat (nonvalvular atrial fibrillation), include potassium-rich foods such as bananas, oranges, and spinach in your diet. Potassium aids heart health and can help regulate your heartbeat.

• Following surgery (like hip or knee replacement), a diet rich in protein can support recovery. Include lean meats, fish, eggs, and dairy products in your meals. This helps repair body tissues and maintains muscle strength during the healing process.
