CompositionElixaban 5 Tablet is used to lower the risk of stroke and clots in people with an irregular heartbeat known as non-valvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used to treat and prevent clots in the legs and lungs, and to prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery. It contains apixaban.
It belongs to a group of medicines called anticoagulants, often called blood thinners, which reduce the blood's tendency to clot. Take it exactly as directed at the same time each day, and do not stop it without your doctor's advice, as this can raise the risk of a clot.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any bleeding problems, liver or kidney problems, or other medicines you take, and inform your doctor or dentist that you take it before any surgery or dental work. Report any unusual or prolonged bleeding, or a severe headache, straight away.
