CompositionMacitent 10 Tablet is used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults. It helps improve exercise capacity, lower high blood pressure in the arteries carrying blood from the heart to the lungs, and slow down disease progression.
It contains macitentan, an endothelin receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of endothelin, a body substance that causes lung blood vessels to narrow. Take it with or without food as prescribed, at the same time each day. Continue taking it continuously as recommended by your doctor to maintain control over pulmonary vessel pressures.
Adhering to medical guidance on physical activity and hydration helps manage PAH symptoms effectively. Avoid strenuous activity unless approved by your doctor doctor.
Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you have liver problems or anaemia. Regular blood monitoring of liver enzymes and red blood cell counts is necessary during treatment. This medicine is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, as it can cause serious birth defects.
