Telma CT 40/6.25 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults when a single medicine has not controlled it well enough. It is a combination medicine containing telmisartan 40mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and chlorthalidone 6.25mg, a thiazide-like diuretic (water tablet).
Telmisartan relaxes and widens the blood vessels, while chlorthalidone helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water. Together they lower blood pressure more effectively. Take it once a day, preferably in the morning, with or without food, and continue even when you feel well.
Reducing salt, staying physically active, keeping a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support blood pressure control.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, as it can harm an unborn baby; tell your doctor straight away if you become pregnant. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, gout, diabetes, lupus, low sodium or potassium, a sulfa medicine allergy, or a history of skin cancer, and about other medicines you take, especially lithium, potassium supplements and painkillers. Your doctor will check your kidney function and blood salts. Contact your doctor if you have extreme thirst, muscle cramps or weakness, dizziness or fainting, or sudden eye pain or reduced vision. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
