Trimetazidine works by helping heart muscle cells use oxygen more efficiently during periods of reduced blood flow, which improves the heart's tolerance to reduced oxygen supply and reduces the frequency and severity of angina attacks.
Take this controlled-release tablet with food, at the dose your doctor prescribes, swallowing it whole without crushing or chewing.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems or a movement disorder such as Parkinson's disease, as trimetazidine needs caution in these situations and can occasionally cause or worsen tremor and unusual movements. Report any new or worsening chest pain despite treatment.
