Mahafaro 300 Er Tablet 6 is an extended-release oral antibiotic used to manage severe bacterial infections in adults, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections and pelvic inflammatory disease. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing faropenem, and belongs to a class of medicines called penem antibiotics.
This medicine works by stopping bacteria building their cell walls, which kills them. It is also used for complicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections such as cellulitis and abscesses, and gynaecological infections. Swallow the tablet whole and take it as prescribed by your doctor.
Drinking plenty of fluids and getting enough rest can help your body recover while you complete the treatment, even if you start to feel better early.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillins, cephalosporins or other antibiotics, or have kidney or liver problems. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections, and taking them when not needed or not completing the course can cause antibiotic resistance.
