Faronem ER Tablet is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections affecting the urinary tract, respiratory system, skin, abdomen, and gynaecological areas. Its extended-release formulation helps maintain consistent antibacterial levels in the body for longer durations. This supports effective infection control and reduces the frequency of dosing in prolonged bacterial infections.

Here are some guidelines on how to take Faronem ER Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Avoid breaking, crushing or chewing the tablet.
• Don't take more than the advised dose without consulting your doctor.
• Do not stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Faronem ER Tablet is taken orally.

Faronem ER Tablet contains faropenem (300 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Faropenem works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), enzymes required for the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains in the bacterial cell wall. This weakening of the cell wall leads to cell lysis and death.
• Broad Spectrum Activity: Faropenem has activity against a wide range of bacteria, including gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic pathogens.
• Maintains Therapeutic Levels: The extended-release formulation allows faropenem to stay longer in the body above the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for target organisms, ensuring sustained effectiveness against bacteria.

• Store Faronem ER Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.
• Protect the medicine from moisture and light.
• Keep the tablet in a safe place out of the reach of children.
• Always check and use this medicine before its expiry date.

• If you're managing respiratory tract infections (RTIs) with Faronem ER Tablet, avoid exposure to pollutants and allergens. This could mean staying indoors on smoggy days or wearing a mask in dusty environments.
• For urinary tract infections (UTIs), increase your intake of water and reduce caffeine and alcohol consumption. This can help flush out bacteria from your urinary system, assisting the Faronem ER Tablet in managing your infection.
