Duonem ER Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections.

Uses of Duonem ER Tablet are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats bacterial infections affecting the lungs and airways.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Treats bacterial infections of the urinary tract.
• Skin and Gynaecological Infections: Treats susceptible bacterial infections affecting the skin and female reproductive organs.

Here's how to take Duonem 300 ER Tablet correctly:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Avoid breaking or chewing it.

• You can take it with or without food, depending on your preference.

• Try to take your doses at the same times each day for consistency.

• Continue taking this medicine for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better before finishing the course. Not doing so could lead to a relapse of the infection or the development of antibiotic resistance.

• If you have kidney problems, your doctor may adjust your dose accordingly.

Duonem 300 ER Tablet contains Faropenem (300 mg), which exerts its effects in the following ways:

• Inhibiting Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Faropenem works by binding to and deactivating certain proteins called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). These PBPs are essential for building a substance named peptidoglycan, which forms an important part of the bacterial cell wall.

• Causing Bacterial Cell Lysis: By disrupting cell wall integrity, Faropenem leads to the breakdown or lysis of bacterial cells, leading to their death. Its broad spectrum of activity allows it to act against many types of bacteria, including some resistant strains.

• Store at room temperature, ideally below 25°C.
