Lumerax Tablet is used to treat acute, uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, including in areas with chloroquine-resistant strains. It is a combination antimalarial medicine containing artemether and lumefantrine.
Artemether acts rapidly to kill malaria parasites in the bloodstream, while lumefantrine provides sustained activity to help prevent the infection returning; together they clear the parasite even in resistant strains. Take it with food or a milky drink to improve absorption, as prescribed by your doctor, usually as a course over 3 days. If you vomit within an hour of a dose, repeat that dose.
Using mosquito nets and repellents can help prevent reinfection while you recover.
Tell your doctor about any heart rhythm problems before starting. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Complete the full course exactly as prescribed, as stopping early can allow the infection to return or lead to resistance.
