Tolsama 15 Tablet 4

Tolsama 15 Tablet 4 is used to manage heart failure.

Uses of Tolsama 15 Tablet 4 are:

• Heart Failure: Helps correct low blood sodium levels associated with heart failure.
• Liver Cirrhosis: Helps manage hyponatraemia related to liver cirrhosis.
• SIADH: Helps correct sodium imbalance caused by excess antidiuretic hormone release.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing or breaking the tablet.

• You can take this medicine with or without food, according to your preference.

Tolsama 15 Tablet is taken orally.

Tolsama 15 Tablet contains Tolvaptan (15 mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Vasopressin V2-receptor Antagonism: Tolvaptan selectively blocks the binding of vasopressin, an antidiuretic hormone, to V2 receptors located in your kidneys. Vasopressin typically helps your kidneys reabsorb water back into your body. By blocking this action, Tolvaptan reduces the reabsorption of water.

• Increased Free Water Excretion: Due to reduced water reabsorption, your kidneys excrete more free water. This helps to increase the concentration of sodium in your body.

• Raised Serum Sodium Concentration: By increasing the excretion of free water, Tolvaptan effectively raises the concentration of sodium in your blood. This helps correct the low sodium levels associated with conditions such as heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and SIADH.

• Store Tolsama 15 Tablet at a steady room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep the medicine in its original packaging, safe from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Ensure your medicine is kept out of reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before using Tolsama 15 Tablet and never use it beyond this date.

• Since Tolsama 15 Tablet can increase urination, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

• If you're dealing with liver cirrhosis or heart failure, excessive drinking can worsen your condition. Therefore, it's advisable to limit your alcohol consumption while taking this medicine.
