Hyponat-O 15 Tablet is used to treat hyponatraemia, a condition in which blood sodium is too low, including when caused by the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). It helps restore a healthy sodium balance and relieve related symptoms.
This medicine contains tolvaptan, which blocks the action of a hormone called vasopressin, helping the kidneys remove excess water while retaining important salts. It is taken by mouth strictly under medical supervision. Continue taking it exactly as advised, even once your sodium levels improve.
While taking this medicine, have free access to water and drink according to your doctor's advice, as restricting fluids too much can be harmful. Your doctor will check your blood sodium levels regularly, particularly when you start treatment.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, or other medicines you are taking. Report confusion, muscle weakness, or seizures to your doctor promptly. Regular liver tests may be needed, and this medicine is usually started and monitored in hospital.
