SOLVIN DX Syrup is used to provide temporary relief from dry cough and symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections, such as sneezing, a runny nose and throat irritation. It combines dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, with chlorpheniramine maleate, an antihistamine, and phenylephrine, a nasal decongestant.
Dextromethorphan reduces the sensitivity of the nerve endings that trigger the cough reflex, easing a dry cough, chlorpheniramine blocks histamine to relieve sneezing and a runny nose, and phenylephrine narrows swollen blood vessels in the nose to ease congestion, together relieving cough, congestion and allergy-type symptoms.
Shake this sugar-free syrup well before use, and take it using the measuring cup provided, following the dosage instructions your doctor gives you. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but skip it if it is almost time for your next dose.
Avoid activities that require mental alertness, such as driving, as this syrup may cause drowsiness, and avoid alcohol, which can increase drowsiness. Tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions or are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine, and do not use it for a productive cough with mucus.
