Smuth Cream is used to relieve the discomfort of piles (haemorrhoids), including pain, burning, itching and swelling in and around the anal area. It makes bowel movements more comfortable by reducing friction and soothing irritated tissue.
It contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, hydrocortisone, which reduces inflammation, calcium dobesilate, which supports the blood vessels, and zinc, which protects and soothes the skin. Apply it to the affected area as directed by your doctor, usually after a bowel movement, keeping the area clean before application.
A high-fibre diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and wholegrains, along with adequate fluid intake, helps soften stools and reduce straining during bowel movements, supporting recovery from piles. Avoid sitting for long periods and take regular gentle walks.
Before using this cream, tell your doctor if you have any skin infections in the affected area, as hydrocortisone should not be applied to infected skin without treating the infection first. If symptoms persist beyond a week, or you notice persistent rectal bleeding, contact your doctor for further assessment.
