Rxtor F 5 Tablet 10 is used to manage high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood, a condition known as hyperlipidemia. It is a combination medicine that belongs to the class of lipid-lowering medications.

In addition to managing hyperlipidemia, this medicine also helps reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular problems like heart attack and stroke. It is particularly useful for adults with type 2 diabetes who have high cholesterol and triglycerides, as it can lower the risk of pancreatitis. For patients with very high triglycerides (500 mg/dL or more), it helps reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis.

Rosuvastatin (5 mg): As a statin medication, rosuvastatin inhibits an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a crucial role in cholesterol production in the liver. By reducing this enzyme's activity, it decreases the liver's production of "bad" LDL cholesterol. It also helps remove LDL cholesterol already circulating in the bloodstream.
Fenofibrate (145 mg): This component activates an enzyme called peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which is a protein that controls fat metabolism in the body. This action reduces triglyceride production in the liver and increases the breakdown of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, effectively lowering blood triglyceride levels. It also modestly increases "good" HDL cholesterol.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while taking Rxtor F 5 Tablet 10 if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding
