Nintena 150 Capsule is used to treat Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and other chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases. It is also used to slow the rate of decline in lung function in patients with systemic sclerosis-associated lung disease. While it cannot reverse existing scars, it is a vital maintenance therapy that slows down the ""stiffening"" of the lungs, helping patients stay active and breathe more easily for longer.
This medication contains Nintedanib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking specific signaling pathways (including platelet-derived growth factor, fibroblast growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptors) that tell the body to produce excess scar tissue. By ""switching off"" these signals, it significantly slows the progression of lung scarring and prevents sudden flare-ups of the disease.
Take this capsule twice daily (approximately 12 hours apart) with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset and diarrhea. Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew it. Your doctor will perform regular blood tests to monitor your liver function during treatment. Inform your healthcare provider immediately if you experience severe diarrhea, weight loss, or unusual bruising/bleeding.
