CompositionNindanib 150 Capsule is used to slow the worsening of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other progressive fibrosing lung diseases, including lung disease linked to systemic sclerosis. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing nintedanib 150mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called antifibrotic tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
This medicine slows the scarring (fibrosis) of lung tissue, helping to preserve lung function; it does not reverse existing damage. Take it daily, about 12 hours apart, with food, swallowing the capsule whole with water without chewing or opening it. Your doctor may lower the dose or pause treatment if side effects occur.
Stopping smoking, keeping up with pulmonary rehabilitation and recommended vaccines, and staying as active as you can support lung health. Drink plenty of fluids, and start anti-diarrhoea medicine as advised at the first sign of loose stools.
This medicine can harm an unborn baby. Women who could become pregnant must use highly effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months after the last dose, and should not breastfeed. Your doctor will check your liver blood tests regularly, especially in the first months. Before starting, tell your doctor about liver disease, a bleeding tendency, heart disease or recent heart attack, recent surgery, or blood thinners. Seek medical help for severe diarrhoea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual bleeding, chest pain, or severe stomach pain. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
