Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension is used in children to manage bacterial infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, ears, sinuses, skin and urinary tract.

Uses of Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension are:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats sore throat, tonsillitis, sinusitis and lower respiratory infections such as pneumonia and chronic bronchitis.
• Ear Infections: Treats acute bacterial middle ear infections (otitis media).
• Skin and Urinary Tract Infections: Treats uncomplicated infections of the skin and urinary system.

Give Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension to your child as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Use a spoon or cup to measure the exact quantity recommended by your doctor.

• Follow your doctor's advice on how long your child needs to take this medicine.

Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension is given orally.

Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension comprises two active ingredients:

• Cefpodoxime Proxetil (100 mg): This ingredient is an orally administered product which transforms into the active antibiotic cefpodoxime in the intestine. Cefpodoxime works by disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls' peptidoglycan layer, causing the bacteria to break apart and die.

• Clavulanic Acid (62.5 mg): This component acts as an inhibitor of β-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. Clavulanic acid binds irreversibly to these enzymes, preventing them from breaking down cefpodoxime. This action extends cefpodoxime's antibiotic spectrum to include many β-lactamase-producing bacteria that would otherwise be resistant.

• Store the Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 25°C.

• After mixing, you can keep it either at room temperature or in the fridge between 2°C to 8°C.

• Ensure the bottle is kept out of reach of children.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids. This helps to prevent dehydration, which can occur if your child has diarrhea due to the infection.

• If your child has a respiratory tract infection, keep them away from smoky environments as it can make symptoms worse. This includes cigarette smoke or cooking fumes.
