Lactagard 1500 Injection is used to treat severe bacterial infections, including infections that resist other antibiotics, affecting the chest, urinary tract, abdomen, blood (septicaemia) and the brain (meningitis). It is given in hospital.
It combines a cephalosporin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which protects the antibiotic so it works against a wider range of bacteria.
It is given by a healthcare professional under close supervision, with the dose adjusted to the infection and your kidney function. The full course must be completed.
Tell your doctor about any allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins, or kidney problems, before use. Report a rash, swelling or severe diarrhoea.
