Glipy Met 500 Tablet is used in adults with type 2 diabetes to control blood sugar through two medicines together, particularly when metformin alone is not enough.

Here's how you should take Glipy MET 500 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Do not crush, chew or break the tablet.

Glipy MET 500 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide medication, metformin primarily works by reducing the production of glucose in your liver. It also decreases the absorption of glucose from your gut and improves how sensitive your body's cells are to insulin. This does not promote insulin secretion, hence it's less likely to cause low blood sugar levels.

• Vildagliptin (50 mg): This is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It blocks an enzyme in your body that breaks down incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By prolonging these hormones' activity, vildagliptin enhances insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells and suppresses glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha-cells when glucose levels are elevated. Consequently, vildagliptin helps reduce blood sugar levels.
