Azithral Tablet 10

Azithral Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis

• Controlling ear infections such as otitis media

• Managing eye conditions like conjunctivitis and trachoma

• Dealing with skin and soft tissue infections such as cellulitis, erysipelas, and impetigo

• Handling sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and syphilis

• Managing gastrointestinal ailments like typhoid fever and traveller's diarrhoea

• Providing prophylaxis for Lyme disease

Follow these instructions while taking Azithral Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• It should be taken either 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal or as advised by doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Azithral Tablet is taken orally.

The active ingredient in Azithral Tablet is azithromycin (250 mg). The way it works on the body includes:

• Binding to Bacterial Ribosomes: Azithromycin binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes. These ribosomes are crucial as they help produce essential proteins that bacteria need to survive.

• Inhibiting Protein Synthesis: By binding to these ribosomes, azithromycin interferes with the process of protein synthesis. This means it stops the production of vital proteins that bacteria need.

• Halting Bacterial Growth: The disruption in protein synthesis prevents bacterial growth and replication. This allows your body’s immune system to effectively clear out the infection.

Store Azithral Tablet in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

• Maintain an ideal room temperature between 15°C and 30°C.

• Do not expose the medicine to high temperatures or freezing conditions.

• Always ensure that your medicine is kept out of the reach of children.

• Use the medicine before its expiry date.

• If you're taking Azithral Tablet for respiratory infections like pneumonia, bronchitis, or sinusitis, it's advisable to avoid smoking. Smoking can aggravate these conditions and make recovery slower.

• As this medicine is also used to manage skin infections, maintaining good personal hygiene can help prevent such infections. Regularly washing your hands, especially after using public transport or handling pets, can reduce the chance of bacteria causing skin infections.
