Vilact M500 Tablet is used for the following health conditions:

• Managing type 2 diabetes in adults when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient.

• Regulating blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes who are not adequately controlled by metformin monotherapy.

• It assists insulin in controlling blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetic patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately regulated by insulin and metformin.

Follow these simple steps while taking Vilact M500 Tablet:

• Always swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid breaking, crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Ensure you take this medicine with meals to help reduce any potential stomach discomfort.

Vilact M500 Tablet consists of two potent components:

• Vildagliptin (50 mg): This component is a selective and reversible inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). Vildagliptin aids in controlling blood sugar by increasing the levels of incretin hormones such as GLP-1 and GIP, which are produced by the intestine. These hormones stimulate insulin release from the pancreas and reduce glucagon levels in a manner dependent on glucose levels.

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide antidiabetic agent, metformin has threefold action: it reduces the production of glucose in the liver, decreases the absorption of glucose in the intestine, and enhances insulin sensitivity that boosts peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation.
