Abvida-M 50/500 Tablet is a medicine used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is prescribed to improve glycaemic control along with healthy dietary adjustments and regular physical activity.
It combines two antidiabetic medicines: vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps stimulate insulin release after meals, and metformin, a biguanide that reduces glucose output from the liver and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin.
Take this tablet with food to lower the chance of experiencing stomach upset. It should be taken at a regular fixed time every day as directed by your doctor.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, a history of heart failure, or severe infections. Avoid excessive alcohol intake, as it can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis.
